We have given this some thought and it can only be that the trigger adjusting screw is wrongly set and not allowing the trigger to engage. There are two adjusting screws on the KS-5, both reached through a hole provided in the trigger guard. The screw behind the trigger sets pull weight whilst the one underneath sets sear engagement. It would have been correctly set at the factory so I assume that it has been altered since. As the trigger/sear engagement is important from a safety aspect I strongly recommend that you take the gun to a Krieghoff approved Service centre and let them set t correctly for you.

Alan, I bought this gun new and have had it assembled a couple of times before with no problems. This gun has never been fired !!!!! I ASSURE YOU no one has changed any of the adjustments.

Well you never said in your original post that it had gone together without problem in the past. Neverthless I stand by what I said and that is that the trigger adjustment is the most likely cause. If you remove the stock you should be able to see clearly if the sear is missing the hammer or not. The only other possibility is that the nose of the sear has broken off but this is very unlikely.
This is not a problem you should be trying to self-solve. Take the gun to a gunsmith approved by Krieghoff and he will have it fixed in less time than it takes to make a post on this forum. Trigger repairs and adjustments are best left to those who know what they are doing.

Alan, with the stock off and the top lever pushed all the way to the right the hammer is not dropping far enough to engage the trigger. The trigger is not causing it to not drop far enough. ALSO when you push the top lever over it does stay there.and the release for the top lever does not raise up as it should. There is no audible click. If you manually hold the top lever over the locking block does not move in far enough to allow installation of barrel.

I am not going to attempt to diagnose this problem sight unseen. As I have said already, contact Krieghoff or one of their appointed service agents in the USA and they will be able to sort out the problem.
