Could anyone give me an insight into recoil reduction systems? I have had some experience of the Excellent Danusa System supplied by Brierly guns but don't like the aesthetics.
The ISIS looks much better but is it as effective. Could anyone who has tried both give an insight?

I have tried the ISIS but it just did not work for me. The inventor, Dave Izzard, reckons it is probably because I lock in pretty tight as do many trapshooters. He came up with a version with a longer stroke to overcome this problem but it does mean you have to shorten the stock about the same amount as you do for the Danuser. Many sporting shooters swear by the system so I have to accept that the problem is with me rather than the ISIS. I will ask Roy Wedlake to post something here on the ISIS as he has much more experience than me with these units.
In the USA there are many types of recoil reducing unit and I have shot a good many of them. Of special note is the G-Squared unit by Glen Gregory in California. This works with a small pneumatic cylinder and incorporates a sliding comb. Pretty much writes off your stock for the conversion though and it is expensive. Best route is to find an old stock and make any conversion on that. There are also complete stock systems such as the Air Cushion stock from Joe Shiozaki, also in California. This system uses the same G-Squared cylinder inside a two piece stock. Looks great but is expensive.
My advice on all these systems is to obtain a second stock and use that for conversion, retaining your original stock. We always have what we call "E-Grade" stocks that are too plain to put on a gun. We sell those off for this purpose at a good discount.

Gavin, in answer to your question, I have fitted 14 units to date a mixture of the sporting unit and the trap version, so far I have not had any unit fail or any complaints from any of my customers in fact the reaction I get is surprise how well they work. The effect some shooters had the day after shooting 100 reg almost made some of them give up, but after having the ISIS fitted they found improvement on the day of shooting as well the day after.
