For many years, Krieghoff has been making short and handy insert barrels which slip into shotgun barrels to allow shooting .22 caliber ammunition for varmint control.But it was the full-length insert barrel EL-65 of recent years which opens a whole new field of use. It allows for larger calibers such as .222 Rem.,
5.6x50R Mag., 5.6x52R, the latter two being equivalent to a .223 Savage, and 6x70R. When adding the EL-65 to a Krieghoff PLUS drilling or ULTRA rifle/shotgun combination, these hunting guns become even more versatile, truly 'universal' in the Krieghoff sense.
The EL-65 insert is known for excellent grouping that is certainly comparable to any conventional rifle barrel. The insert has the additional advantage that it can be fired in rapid succession with no change in its point-of-impact due to the torque-free expandibility within the shotgun barrel.The EL-65 can be easily regulated without removal from the shotgun barrel through adjustment screws at the muzzle of the insert barrel. It is available for 12 gauge, 16 gauge, and 20 gauge shotgun barrels. Expert fitting is required. |
