World English Sporting

The competition was held at Lakenheath Shooting Ground between the 7th and 11th July, with the FITASC on the 8th, Prelim Sporting and the Sportrap on the 9th, the World English Sporting on the 10th and 11th.
The sweltering heat and humidity might have affected some people, but it was all in all a fine few days competition.
 
Ben led the field on day 1 with a fine 94 which he repeated on day 2, going into the Super Final on 188. Joining Ben in the Super Final were Paul Simpson (187), George Digweed (186), Martin Myers (183), Carl Bloxham and Richard Bunning (182). Once the dust had cleared it was Ben who emerged as the 2010 English Sporting Champion, one clay ahead of Paul with George another target back. Martin Myers finished 1st in AAA.

Sportrap Event

The World Sportrap on 9th July produced some high scores. Richard Faulds and Mark Marshall finishing on 96 with Papworth and Robertson close behind on 95 with Dave Hughes and Wilkinson on 94. The final placings being sorted by a Super Final that saw Richard emerge as Mark Marshall emerge as Champion a total; of 119. Dave Hughes had improved his standing to tie with Richard on 117. A second shoot off saw Richard hit 10 and Dave 9 to take 3rd place.


Prelim Sporting Event

Prior to the World Championship, Lakenheath staged a Prelim 100 target Sporting as a warm up for the main event. Mark Winseremerged as High Gun with a great score of 94, two targets clear of the second placed shooter. American K-80 shooter and National Sporting Clays Champion, Gebben Miles finished 1st in AAA>

FITASC Sporting Event

To kick off the weeks events a 150 target FITASC Sporting event was held over Wednesday and Thursday, 75 targets each day. Ben started the week in style with a fine 136 plus 21 in the Super Final to take the first title of the week.
 
Well done to Martin Myers and Gebben Miles who came in 2nd and 3rd in A Class, and Aldis Kartocius came 1st in B Class.
