The "Danube", named after the mighty river that flows through Krieghoff's home town of Ulm, is one of the finest patterns offered by the company. This example is from the studio of Badillini, the famous Italian master who passed away a couple of years ago. Finely cut scrollwork covers the entire receiver, top latch and guard with fine gold borders around all panels. This is engraving at its best and very much to the English taste. The finish on this receiver is the traditional "coin finish" that gives a pleasing grey colour to set off the detail in the engraving and the gold inlaid borders. This is a more effective finish than the more modern nitride hardening.
The stock selected for this gun is superbly figured and only the pictures on the right can do justice to the grain figure and colour. The stock is the fixed comb sporting stock but it can be converted to an adjustable comb if desired.
Barrels are the K-80 "Super-Sport" barrels in 32" with the 10-6mm tapered rib and Krieghoff screw-in choke system. The choke tubes are traditional blued steel in keeping with the overall appearance of the gun. We can exchange these for titanium chokes if that is your preference.
Price of this gun today, but by a different engraver, is £23,450. This gun, in superb condition, is £19,950. |
